Software

Field operations: people, equipment, dispatch and mobile reports

Field operations software for rosters, equipment, dispatches, training and a mobile report. This is not a warehouse WMS. Locations on a shelf and crews in the field are different products.

Field crew and equipment tracked in an operations system

Background

People, kit and dispatches lived on paper and radio. Training records sat in another folder. After a call, someone retyped what happened. The office could not see who was available or what equipment was ready without calling the station.

What we shipped

Rosters, equipment status, dispatch records, training and mobile reporting — one operations console plus a field client.

What was breaking

  • Availability of people and equipment was a phone call.
  • Dispatch notes were rewritten after the crew returned.
  • Training and drills did not attach to the same person file.
  • Calling it "inventory" did not help: there is no pick path here.

Approach

We modeled crews, equipment and jobs — not bins. Dispatch creates a record the mobile client can complete in the field. Training posts to the person. Warehouse inbound and PDA picking belong on a WMS page, not this one.

Modules

  • People roster and duty status
  • Equipment register
  • Dispatch and job close-out
  • Training and assessment records
  • Mobile report from the field

Field software is scoped like other operations systems. Warehouse floors go to /en/wms/. Field briefs go to /en/contact/.
